A bear made his way to suburban Roseville on Sunday, hopscotching from yard to yard, teetering atop fences and even climbing a tree.
Dogs yelped, neighbors gawked and police tried to hurry the bruin on his way as the cinnamon-colored critter enlivened a Sunday for residents who live near Linda Creek.
Roseville police got the first call about 7:30 a.m. Sunday that there was a bear on the prowl in the backyard of a home on Lund Drive. All day long there were reports of a bear in the area, the last coming around midnight.
Police called the California Department of Fish and Wildlife, which told officers to keep the bear moving.
“Officers tried to scare it, to make it uncomfortable so that it doesn’t settle down here,” said Dee Dee Gunther, spokeswoman for Roseville police.
